Hopital TV Shows and Social Workers
Here are a list of a few recent medical TV shows:
- “Mercy” on NBC
- “Nurse Jackie” on Showtime
- “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice”on ABC
- “House” on Fox
But where are the social workers? What’s perhaps even worse than non-representation, both “ER” and “Mercy” portrayed social workers negatively, according to socialworkersspeak.org, a site developed primarily for the purpose of influencing the entertainment industry to improve public understanding of social workers.
Peruse the archives here at Palliative-SW Blog to see what we have said about social workers in hospice & palliative care. Also don’t forget to visit the Social Work Hospice & Palliative Care Network.
