March is Social Work Month
Here at Palliative-SW Blog, we love social workers. But unfortunately, many are still confused about who they are and what they do. Medical social workers make up roughly 20% of all social workers and they’re the ones who provide psychosocial support to people and families coping with illnesses, as well as advise, counsel, and help plan for the needs of patients and families. They may work in hospitals, care facilities, or agencies.
Social workers specializing in hospice & palliative care can be found at the Social Work Hospice & Palliative Care Network (SWHPN).
