Social workers have experienced confusion around the various terms “hospice care,” “palliative care” and “supportive care.” This webinar will discuss some of the similarities and the differences between the various settings and the role social workers play. It will also identify national sources for standards and guidelines impacting social work practice.
Participants will be able to:
- Contrast various hospice and palliative care settings
- Utilize national standards and guidelines relevant to end of life practice
- Identify differences and similarities in social work roles based on settings
Sherri Weisenfluh is Associate Chief Clinical Officer of Counseling for Hospice of the Bluegrass. Sherri has been with Hospice of the Bluegrass for 18 years. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the state of Kentucky and has over 25 years of clinical experience. Sherri currently serves as the Social Work Section Leader for the National Council of Hospice Professionals through the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and serves on the Field Advisory Committee for the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky. Sherri has presented at numerous state and national conferences. She is a recipient of a Project on Death in America Social Work Leadership Development Grant from the George Soros Foundation and was recently honored by the National Academies of Practice, for her national work.
