This month on the SWHPN member discussion forum, tune in to read posts from Dr. Philip McCallon on Palliative Care and Intellectual Disabilities. Dr. McCallon, Professor at the School of Social Welfare at the University at Albany and Director of the Center for Excellence in Aging and Community Wellness, has over 70 publications on interventions with caregivers of frail elderly, persons with Alzheimer’s disease, and persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Posts this month will focus on:
- Innovative demonstration projects designed to maintain aging persons and persons with intellectual disabilities in the community
- Design of interventions and training to support caregivers and persons with intellectual disabilities with dementia and at the end of life.
- System design work on creating aging prepared communities and on embedding evidence based health promotion programs and participant directed practices in ageing services.
- Development and dissemination of training using a variety of media.
